Mission News From Mark & Pam

Update:  George Wilson

georger

George Wilson is about 8 or 10.  His uncle had him circumcised without anesthetic or sterile technique and he got a nasty infection.  The doctor in Tarime was treating him for free and that’s the first time I met George.  He lived in a village near Tarime Tanzania where I worked at Angel House Orphanage.  His father left his family and his mother also ran away.  George had no place to go so he was living with an uncle who was not home and an aunt who did not like him and beat him.  When his parents were living together, there was enough money to go to school but when I was introduced to him, there was no money for school; in fact, he only had one black and white paid shirt with one button and shorts that were torn.  His shoes didn’t match and were very worn out.  Now, because of the generosity of the Maxwell United Methodist Church, George is living at Angel House Orphanage where he is getting enough to eat, going to school and doing his share of the chores.  Even though George is shy, he made a friend right away at Angel House, the friend’s name is Ghana.  George’s face smiles now where there was once worry.  So I want to thank everyone who has helped George to be safe and to smile.

Angel House has contacted me and asked for support for George again for the coming year.  In Tarime if you want to gogeorge2rtoschool, you have to rent your desk, buy a specific uniform, and buy school supplies called “Counter Books” similar to our work books.  The cost is $35 a month.  The cost of living at Angel House for a month is $45 that covers, simple foods, like fish, rice, greens, corn and beans.  George is also supplied clothes, medical care, and a bed with a blanket and pillow.  A lot of kids in Tarime sleep on mats on the floor and have no blanket or pillow.

On behalf of George Wilson, I want to thank the generous people of the Maxwell Methodist Church for giving financial support for another year.  With your help, this little boy now has hope again for the future.  I will write him and let him know through one of the missionary that is presently at Angel House.  I know he will be thrilled!  I am so very proud to call this MY church.

PS  There are still 3 spots left for room and board of $45.00 a month.
